Two persons including a student of Civil Engineering department of the Bayero University in Kano, Husseina Nalado, were killed during a clash between the Police and members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria otherwise known Shiite.
The Islamic group members, whose activities have been banned in the state, had a clash with the police during their annual Arbaeen annual trek in some parts of the state.
The Shiite members were intercepted by the police at the popular Lado overhead bridge along Zaria road in Kano metropolis. The policemen allegedly stopped them by firing teargas and live bullets. Many people sustained injuries in the incident.
Hussina is said to be the best Engineering student in her school.
Kano is among the states that have outlawed the activities of the group.
Ibrahim Zakzaky, leader of the group, has been in detention since December 2015 when his followers clashed with some soldiers.
