NYSC GETS PASS MARK ON DEPLOYMENT POLICY

Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufa'i, has commended the National Youth Service Corps for the effective deployment and posting of Corps Members to areas of national needs.

He made the commendation today while declaring open the 2017 Batch 'B' Pre - Orientation meeting held at Ahmadu  Bello Memorial Foundation, Kaduna.

El-Rufa'i also applauded the Scheme for reviewing the content of Orientation Course to address current national needs.

He described the NYSC Scheme as an enduring national legacy, which is even more relevant as a vehicle for national cohesion, leadership training and youth re-orientation.

The Governor promised that his administration would continue to support the NYSC to achieve its mandate.

"I have followed with keen interest, the giant strides made in recent times by the NYSC in other areas of your mandate at different levels, despite obvious challenges," he said .

In his welcome address, NYSC Director General, Brigadier General Sulaiman Kazaure, urged all stakeholders to be responsive to their statutory responsibilities to the scheme.

Kazaure said the law establishing the NYSC  placed the responsibility of provision and maintenance of orientation camps on state governments.

He, however, commended some state governments that have upgraded their orientation camps.

He adds: "The sustained intervention of the Federal Government has made it possible for the Scheme to mobilize backlog of eligible graduates for national service".

The Director, Planning, Research and Statistics, Mrs. Victoria Okakwu, in an introductory address said the meeting would chart the road to formulate policy direction that would drive  the smooth execution of the forth-coming orientation programme nationwide.
